At this point Biden's team is doing better than I expected, so I'm giving him benefit of doubt. I think they wanted the stimulus total to be the same $1.9 trillion as the republican tax cut, and they wanted to put money into schools and local government, so they decided to be cheesy about $2,000 promise. I don't like it because it's such a "moderate democrat" mumble, but it actually is a good bill that's been passed. Giving Manchin $100/week on unemployment - we'll know the value of that when the decision on the filibuster happens. If Manchin supports the "painful" filibuster that requires 41 republicans to sit in session at all times, the fight over the infrastructure bill will be a big political win, and a lot of the green new deal will get enacted under that banner.
